ABLE PAKISTAN AWARD – Achieving Beyond Limitations & Expectations
ABLE PAKISTAN AWARD is the first annual award honoring the achievements of persons with disabilities in Pakistan along with recognizing organizations and institutions which provide employment to persons with disabilities and have created accessible and inclusive physical environments, as well as innovative technology with disability inclusion at heart.
The 2024 Award Ceremony will take place in December 2024.
Nominations will open later in the year.
AWARD CATEGORIES

Excellence in Health & Education Award
Persons with disabilities from the health or education sector, including but not limited to: teachers, teaching assistants, headmasters, university professors, doctors, surgeons, nurses, community health workers, etc.

Excellence in Advocacy Award
Persons with disabilities from the advocacy and rights sector, who advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and their inclusion. They could be working for an NGO or charity, a business, within a governmental organization, or simply in their local communities to achieve vital change.

Excellence in Arts, Culture & Sports Award
Persons with disabilities from the arts, culture and sports sectors, including but not limited to: artists, actors, comedians, poets, Paralympians, runners, singers, swimmers, writers, etc.

Excellence in Innovation Award
This Award will be given to a use of technology that has really improved the life opportunities and experiences of disabled people, in the workplace, as a consumer or in wider society. This might be through an innovative use of existing technology or through the development of a new digital or assistive technology product that has gone the extra mile to break down barriers experienced by disabled people.

Inclusive Employer
This Award will be given to an organization which provides employment to persons with disabilities and has created accessible and inclusive physical environments for disabled people as well as thoughtful, engaging and inclusive workplace practices.

Employee of the Year Award
This Award will be given to one public sector employee and one private sector employee, to recognize exceptional job performance and personal achievements of these outstanding individuals in spite of limiting physical factors.

Outstanding Volunteer Award
This award will be given to honor a person who has donated time, talents and/or expertise toward improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Volunteer service could include interacting directly with people with disabilities, assisting with special events or serving on a board or committee.

Social Impact Award
This award will be given to a person with disability who has raised awareness about disability and promoted the visibility of disabled people by using mainstream or social media, or other digital interfaces.

Young Community Spirit Award
This award will be given to a young individual for the recognition of their services for the empowerment of youth with disabilities in Pakistan.

Parliamentarian of the Year
This award celebrates Members of Parliament who promote positive change for people with disabilities. This could be by passing new legislation relating to the betterment of the lives of people with disabilities or by raising issues faced by persons with disabilities.

Journalist of the Year
This award recognizes an individual journalist who has gone above and beyond with their reporting. This could be online, in print or broadcast. They could have championed disability issues, or shown strong commitment to disability equality through a sustained body of work.

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will be given to an individual who has shown commitment to the disability rights movement and worked over time to achieve significant outcomes for disabled people.
